Paul Gillin Explains the New Realm of Social Media and How It’s Giving Power to the People

Co-host Brad Forsythe interviews Paul Gillin, Author of The New Influencers: A Marketer's Guide to the New Social Media.

Paul Gillin has been reporting on the impacts of technology and media for 25 years. Before focusing full-time on social media, he was the founding editor-in-chief of TechTarget, one of the most successful new media entities to emerge on the Internet. Previously, he was editor-in-chief of Computerworld.

As principal of Paul Gillin Communications, he now advises marketing executives and CEOs on how to turn the new social media to their advantage. His new book, The New Influencers: A Marketer’s Guide to the New Social Media, chronicles the changes in markets being driven by the new breed of bloggers and podcasters. It was published by Quill Driver Books in spring 2007.

Paul is an accomplished speaker and media spokesman. His ability to translate complex topics into plain English has made him a favorite source for journalists. He has been widely quoted in national newspapers and on the airwaves, including appearances on CNN, PBS, Fox News and MSNBC.  He has keynoted more than a dozen technology conferences, including annual user group meetings for IBM, Oracle, and Cognos. He has also spoken at scores of other events about social media and marketing trends, including Nantucket Conference, NETSEA, Society for New Communications Research, Red Herring and others.

For entertaining advice join hosts Ray Schilens and Brad Forsythe for a lively and informative discussion.
